Week 8: The Swing of Things

This has been the first week where it took little effort to make a lot of progress. I'm no longer setting up, getting corners and sections situated. Most things even have price tags! After the 50 Days Party, I'm noticing a real shift. Things have settled, the routine has been set, there is overall momentum (forward).

With so many new products coming into the shop, I've spent a lot of time this past week uploading products, editing text, and making inventory news posts. Every so often I notice something about the website, or I see the way another website looks, and then everything has to change.

Recently, the New Arrivals & Coming Soon page debuted to be a better and more interactive version of the new arrivals collection, which is just a page of products. This was directly inspired by another shop's website, and though it takes a bit of upkeep, I think it works.

More time consuming, but so so integral to the aesthetic of viewing experience is how each collection of products is laid out. I've noticed that pages that have been set out intentionally (MACHETE, G&B Essentials, TBCo) look a lot better than the ones I've put together haphazardly. Go-figure. Recently I've been going through different collections and cleaning them up so that they are more enticing to page through and ensuring that they don't all look too similar. The more products that come in, the more these collections need to be updated so they can all be represented. It's honestly like having a 2nd storefront!

As much as I was excited for the holiday season, I'm now excited for it to be over. It's so fast-paced, so full of being full, and any ideas I have need to be benched until next year. I'm having a great time, but that initial period of moving in and getting settled has been completely superseded by the fact that it's the end of November...

The holi-daze is just getting started.
