Launched in 2016, Dedcool was born out of a desire to empower people in discovering their signature scent.

Unisex, nontoxic, and vegan, it’s exactly what you’d expect from an up-and-coming fragrance house. 

Carina Chaz is ded cool. This young, innovative 20-something from California is taking over the fragrance industry one spritz at a time. Launched in 2016, Dedcool was born out of a desire to empower people in discovering their signature scent. Unisex, nontoxic, and vegan, it’s exactly what you’d expect from an up-and-coming fragrance house. 

In fact, these fragrances were designed to be layered, personalized to suit your everyday life.

Dedcool fragrances are made with botanical extracts. Does this mean they’re 100% natural? Technically, no. But the ingredients used are all derived from natural source. To give an example, an active ingredient in turmeric root is curcumin. If you extract the curcumin from turmeric, it’s isolated, and no longer 100% natural.

It’s derived from a natural source, but once a plant’s chemistry is compromised by extracting this component from one plant and the next ingredient from another plant, it starts to lose its natural essence. This is not necessarily a bad thing— but at the same time it’s not 100% natural the way an essential oil would be.

I would consider these semi-synthetic, nontoxic, and derived from natural sources.

When making extracts, it’s important to consider the source, and Dedcool uses mood-boosting extracts from 21 different raw, organic plants. From borage to Panax Ginseng Root to Carrot, Cucumber, and Gingo Biloba extracts, Dedcools 11 scents mix-and-match simple ingredients to make potent combinations.

The benefit of this is having more control over perfumery, and the chemistry between different scent notes, as well as having a longer staying power than just using essential oils. Dedcool fragrances also don’t contain water, increasing the staying power so that it lasts longer on your skin, and in the bottle.

With no fillers, no animal byproducts, no water, no carcinogens, no phthalates, no EDTA, no ETC... it really makes you wonder ~ what exactly are they putting in the other stuff?
