Green & Bean Gift Guides

Every gifting experience is unique. Sometimes you have an event, and need a matching gift. Sometimes you have a gift, and need an appropriate occasion.
We have a dense selection of giftable items and gifts for "birthday" and "client" can be a bit broad. I hope the Gift Guides section serves as a bit of a gifting encyclopedia, where we can get a bit more specific and in-depth that cover a multitude of events, gifting styles, and how to gift for different types of people.

Indie Magazines - The Quintessential Coffee Table Gift

In my university years as a journalism student, I became fascinated with independent magazines. They've always been a bit niche, hard to find, and printed infrequently. That was part of the charm, and I'm so glad that over the past few years the magazines we've carried have been popular enough that we can continue to bring in new publications.

We started off with Art of Play's Tangram - a magazine about curiosity and wonder - since we already carry their playing cards. We brought in Chickpea - a vegan cookboook magazine, Broccoli - a cannabis magazine and their other publications: Catnip, Heartbeat, Mildew, Mushroom People. Most recently we brought in Esses - a motorsport culture magazine.

Some of these are one-offs, but some are an ongoing series like Esses, which comes out quarterly, and Chickpea which comes out bi-annually. At the moment, Esses is my favorite of the lot, but Catnip has always been our bestseller. It's an easy one for cat lovers.

All in all, these make for great coffee table books. Each of these magazines deliver substance that's easily digestible, entertaining, and pleasing to the eye. The Tangrams actually even have puzzles for an extra element of interactivity. Coffee table books have the reputation of being incredibly large, incredibly expensive, or just full of pictures. Indie magazines I think serve a similar purpose, they're just a little less grandiose and a little more engaging.

And, as always, gift wrapping is free, so don't forget to choose a wrapping paper before you check out!
